We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community.
The primary focus of our corporate community service activities is on developing initiatives to address specific societal issues, such as the environment, community economic development and education. We employ our resources, our technology and talent, in order to create innovative programs in these areas to assist local communities.
Green Efforts
The following is a list of some of the steps American Audio Visual Center has taken in an effort to be environmentally conscious.
At the Corporate Office:
- We recycle paper, plastic, cardboard & aluminum. Proceeds from our recycling program benefit the Arizona Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
- We are saving electricity by turning off computers, lights, etc. when not in use. Thermostats are turned off before/after business hours.
- Several of the Corporate Office employees belong to carpools.
- We have reduced our paper usage by sending most internal memos electronically and required reports from the field are sent via intranet.
- We use recycled paper.
At our Various Hotel Offices:
- Where available, our on-site AV offices participate in the hotel's recycling program. In locations where the hotel does not recycle, we encourage recyclable items to be returned to the local warehouse.
- In our Northern California locations, collections bins have been placed in each of our hotel offices. Every two weeks, drivers collect the contents and return them to our local warehouse for sorting. Contents are then recycled with the following organizations:
- Ink cartridges: recycle for breast cancer www.recycleforbreastcancer.com
- Batteries, light bulbs, electronics: green citizen www.greencitizen.com
- Paper, glass, plastics, metals: paper rush www.paperrush.com
- We have eliminated paper with electronic only version of contracts organized on computer desktop verses paper filled binders.
- Our Southeast Region has instituted several green initiatives including, but not limited to: the recycling of batteries, removed company name from mailing lists at www.dmachoice.org/MPS/, buying locally produced items from local stores, use of white boards and e-mails to replace paper notes, one day per month, managers make every effort to work from his/her home office to reduce vehicle use and pollution.
